Project type: Residential - Bathroom Refurbishment
Time to Complete: 6 weeks
Clients Brief: Our design savvy was in full swing in this charming bathroom where we were faced with a skew "back to wall" toilet which means the drainage was horizontally exposed and exiting through the wall now locating the feature tile. To combat this unfortunate installation in this apartment block, without altering drainage, we thought of an ingenious idea to build a cheeky nib wall that tripled as 1) a seamless disguise for the old drainage 2) housing for a concealed cistern to assist a modern wall faced toilet pan and 3) a lovely, long shelf to add dimension to the room and a home for candles, plants, and ornaments.
An encaustic look tile with the low maintenance of a porcelain was important to our bold client who picked this statement Navy "Bamble" tile herself. We paired it with navy above the tile line and a warm timber took vanity in Byron Blackbutt to add texture and warmth.
